LPR (License-Plate Recognition)
Automated optical capture of every vehicle's license plate as it crosses a defined ingress lane, logged with timestamp and direction.
In Detail
License-plate recognition (LPR), called ANPR outside the US, uses a dedicated camera and on-device computer vision to extract plate characters, capture a context image, and log direction (in/out) as a vehicle crosses an ingress lane. Modern systems read accurately at vehicle speeds up to 40 mph in most lighting conditions, including IR-illuminated after-dark capture. Texas permits private commercial LPR on private property with appropriate retention and access controls.
Why It Matters in Houston
LPR is the single highest-leverage deterrent on a Houston jobsite: when a live monitoring agent talks down a suspect by plate ("the black F-150 with plate ABC-1234, leave the site now"), most attempted intrusions end within 30 seconds.
